The Inheritance – a site-specific contemporary ballet
Created by Artistic Director Minnie Lane in collaboration with writer and dramaturg Emily DeMaioNewton, the Inheritance follows a mother and her two daughters across two increasingly uncanny nights. When a mysterious dollhouse arrives at their door, its miniature rooms mirroring the house around them, the family’s carefully ordered domestic world begins to fracture.
Beneath the surface is a queer love story between the eldest daughter and the girl next door, a mother struggling against what she recognizes in her daughter and perhaps herself, and a younger sister who will return to these events decades later as the story’s narrator.
